The Influence on Pulse Rate and Blood Pressure of Chlorpromazine or Trimethaphan during Endotracheal Intubation

Abstract

|
In 28 hypertensives patients changes of blood pressure and pulse rate whileendotracheal intubation were observed.
Endotracheal intubation in the control group (10 cases) caused elevation of systolic blood pressure. After 30-50n mHg decrement of systolic blood pressure by the pretreatment of the patients with chlorpromazine (8 cases) or trimethaphan (10 cases), elevation of systolic blood pressure while endrotracheal intubation was also noted, but the elevated blood pressure lay below the original level.
